Har fått till en liten jkort intervju med Nashvilles målvaktstränare Mitch Korn som ju jobbar med en av världens bästa målvakter Pekka Rinne som varit nominerad till venzia två år i rad. Samt jobbat med våran egen Anders Linbäck två säsonger. Här kommer den. Ber redan nu om ursäkt för min knackiga Engelska och hoppas ni förstår. :-)
You worked with two european goalies last season. Is there any diffrent than working with northamerican goalies? Do you have to work with other detalis?
I work with all goalies in the system. NHL, Ahl, echl, drafts. I find the greatest difference is my ability to communicate. Euros do not have the same frame of reference, do not understand some of my analogies or know as much about NHL history.
How is Pekka Rinne to work with?
Fantastic. Great work ethic, competitiveness and he truly "manages his own game"
What do you think makes Pekka sucgh a great goalie?
Same as#2 plus size, range, hands, athleticism and great puck tracking.
Whats your thoughts about the new style of goaltending with lots of blocking? What do you think is important to think about when playing a blocking game?
Blocking provides an excellent foundation, but falls short. Need better rebound control and strategies for "desperate saves". Way more traffic, total shots and bodies at the net in north America.
When you see european goalies, what do you think they need to work extra on when coming over to the NHL/AHL?
Thats a general question, and all not that way... But in general....Puck handling, catching, rebound control, some positional adjustments, desperation.
How do you think Anders Lindbäck will do in Tampa?
He will be amazing.
Which three goalies would you rank as the three best?
Not a fair question. So many goalies are very good because of their teams. Some don't get the notice because of their teams. And it varies year to year. Only Rinne was nominated for Vezina 2 yrs in a row. Very hard to sustain a Vezina nominee level.
In the summer do you work any office with the Predators goalies?
The young guys come to our Development Camp. Our strength coach provides off season training programs to the NHL guys and monitor them. I communicate with them. We start back in Nashville in option ice time sept 1.
